Instagram auto DM tools that collect emails, compared

A comment on your Reel is a moment. An email address is a list you own. The tools that turn "comment GUIDE" into a newsletter signup all do it the same way: the auto DM asks for the fan's email, waits for the reply, saves it and then sends the freebie.

The difference is which plan unlocks that step. This post compares ten Instagram auto DM tools on one question: can it collect emails inside the DM, and do you have to pay for it? theZio is our product, so it is labelled as ours, and the post says plainly where other tools beat it. Competitor facts are as reported in October 2026 by each tool's pricing page or a dated review, cited at the end.

How this list was made

Each tool was checked against four things:

  • Email capture inside the DM. The fan types the email in the chat. A link to a separate form page does not count here.
  • Which plan includes it. Free, a capped free version, or paid only.
  • What you get out. A contact list you can export, or only a view inside the tool.
  • Official API. Every tool here says it uses the official Instagram API, so you log in through Meta's own screen. That is the floor, not a feature.

Where we could load the tool's pricing page on 10 October 2026, we re-read it that day. Where the site did not load from our checker, we used the dated check from our own comparison pages and said so. Prices and plans change often, so confirm on each pricing page before you pay.

Read the cap as well as the plan. 100 emails on a free plan is enough to test a lead magnet, not to build a newsletter from a Reel that takes off. A monthly contact cap resets; a lifetime email cap does not.

Tool by tool: who collects emails, and when to pick them

Creator Lane

Creator Lane's pricing page, checked for our comparison on 27 September 2026, puts its follow, email and phone steps on the Free plan too. Free allows 2 live automations with unlimited DMs inside each and takes a 10% fee on each sale. Pro in India was ₹199 a month. See theZio vs Creator Lane. Better pick if you want phone numbers as well as emails, or you plan to sell inside the same tool.

QuickDM

QuickDM's pricing page, checked on 10 October 2026, lists an "Email collector (up to 100 emails)" on its free Infinity Access plan, paced at up to 20 DMs an hour. Pro Growth unlocks an unlimited email collector and 185 DMs an hour; our 27 September check showed ₹399 a month in India, and the page we loaded today showed $10 a month. See theZio vs QuickDM. Better pick if you want story replies and a low rupee price, and 100 free emails is enough to start.

LinkDM

LinkDM's pricing page, checked on 24 September 2026, lists Lead Generation as a Pro feature. Pro was $19 a month for 3 accounts and up to 25,000 DMs. Free covers 1 account and 1,000 DMs a month without lead generation. See theZio vs LinkDM. Better pick if you already pay for several accounts and want story-reply automation in the same plan.

InstantDM

InstantDM's pricing page, checked on 10 October 2026, lists "Email and phone number collection" on Legend Pro at $9.99 a month billed yearly. The free plan gives 500 DM automations a month and does not list email collection. See theZio vs InstantDM. Better pick if you want email and phone capture with a high hourly sending pace, priced in dollars.

CreatorFlow

CreatorFlow's pricing page, checked on 10 October 2026, lists an "Email gate" to collect emails before sending links on Pro, at $15 a month or $12 a month billed yearly, with 5,000 DMs a month per workspace. Free gives 500 automated DMs a month and does not list email collection. See theZio vs CreatorFlow. Better pick if you need story replies on a free plan and can pay in dollars for emails later.

Zorcha

Zorcha's India pricing page, checked on 10 October 2026, lists Collect Phone/Email under DM Automation from Pro, at ₹1,199 a month, with lower monthly rates on quarterly and yearly billing. Its free plan does not include it. See theZio vs Zorcha. Better pick if you want unlimited free DMs now and phone plus email capture once you upgrade.

SuperProfile

SuperProfile is a creator storefront with AutoDM built in. A 2026 review by CreatorLane reports email capture on its paid Creator plan; reports differ on the price. See theZio vs SuperProfile. Better pick if you want your DMs, store and link-in-bio page in one Indian product.

ManyChat

ManyChat collects emails with its Data Collection block, which is listed on paid plans. A September 2026 breakdown by ChatBot.com reports 25 active contacts a month on Free for accounts created after 2 March 2026. See theZio vs ManyChat. Better pick if you want emails to flow straight into an email tool through integrations and you run complex, branching flows.

ReplyKaro

ReplyKaro's pricing page, checked on 27 September 2026, does not list email capture as a plan feature; one example on its story page mentions it. It does list the lowest paid prices here: Starter at ₹99 a month and Pro at ₹299 a month with unlimited DMs. See theZio vs ReplyKaro. Better pick if you mostly send links and do not need an email list, and price matters most.

Where theZio fits (our tool, so read this critically)

theZio is our product. Email capture is on every plan, Free included. Turn it on in an automation, write your ask, and theZio asks each fan for their email in the DM before it sends the freebie. The full setup is on the email collection feature page.

FanGUIDE

Creator (auto)Love that you want it! Drop your email and I'll send the full guide here 📩

Creator (auto)Got it. Here is your guide!

  • Free plan: 1,000 auto DMs and up to 1,000 contacts a month, no card. Pro at ₹499 a month (₹399 a month billed yearly) removes both caps.
  • Never holds the freebie hostage. If the reply is not an email, theZio asks once more, then delivers anyway. Every fan gets what you promised.
  • A list you can take away. Emails land in Contacts. Export CSV gives every contact with handle, email, automation and date, ready for your newsletter tool.
  • Pairs with file delivery. Upload a PDF or preset once and the same DM sends a private download link (3 products on Free, unlimited on Pro).
  • Ask For Follow invite. The DM can also invite the fan to follow you. It is an invite, so the freebie still arrives either way.

Where other tools beat theZio

  • Phone numbers. Creator Lane, InstantDM and Zorcha can collect a phone number as well as an email. theZio collects email only.
  • Direct email tool sync. ManyChat connects to email tools through integrations. theZio gives you a CSV to import yourself.
  • Free volume. Creator Lane allows unlimited DMs inside its 2 free automations, and Zorcha lists unlimited free DMs. theZio Free stops at 1,000 DMs a month.
  • Story mentions. Several tools here automate story replies and mentions on every plan. theZio answers keyword Story replies on every plan, but keeps Story mention DMs on Pro.
  • Lowest paid price. ReplyKaro and QuickDM list lower monthly prices than theZio Pro billed monthly, if you can live without what they leave out.

How to pick the right email capture tool

  1. Count your expected signups. A Reel that gets 300 comments can blow through a 100-email free cap in one evening.
  2. Check the plan, not the feature list. Many landing pages list email capture without saying it is on a paid plan.
  3. Test the bad reply. Comment from a second account, then type "hi" instead of an email. A good flow asks again, then still delivers.
  4. Export once before you rely on it. Make sure the list comes out with the fields your email tool needs.
  5. Run one tool per post. Meta allows one private reply per comment, within 7 days, so two tools on one post fight over the same DM.

New to this? Start with the idea of a lead magnet: one small, useful thing a fan gets in exchange for their email. Then read the step-by-step guide to collecting emails on Instagram with a lead magnet.

Write an email ask that fans actually answer

The tool only asks. Your words decide whether the fan replies. Keep the ask to two short lines: what they get, and why you need the email.

  • Name the thing. "Drop your email and I'll send the 7-day meal plan" beats "Share your email".
  • Say what else they get. "You'll also get my Sunday recipe mail. Unsubscribe any time." Honest asks get honest emails.
  • Keep it in the same voice as your Reels. Hinglish is fine if that is how you talk: "Email bhejo, guide abhi bhejta hoon."
  • Deliver fast. The freebie should land seconds after the email. A delay makes fans think it broke.

Keep every DM useful and on-topic. Meta's spam rules cover misleading or repetitive messages, and an email ask that hides the freebie behind tricks is the fastest way to get reported. Want to try it on your next Reel? See the Free and Pro plans or start free.

Frequently asked questions

Which Instagram auto DM tool collects emails for free?

As reported in October 2026, Creator Lane and theZio include email capture inside the DM on their free plans. QuickDM's free plan collects up to 100 emails. theZio Free covers up to 1,000 contacts a month with no card.

Can ManyChat collect emails from Instagram DMs on the free plan?

ManyChat collects emails with its Data Collection block, which its help centre lists on paid plans. Its free plan is also reported at 25 active contacts a month for accounts created after 2 March 2026.

What is the cheapest way to collect emails from Instagram comments in India?

A free plan that includes email capture: theZio Free or Creator Lane Free, or QuickDM Free if 100 emails is enough. If you outgrow them, compare theZio Pro at ₹499 a month with QuickDM Pro Growth and Zorcha Pro on their pricing pages.

Is it allowed to ask for an email in an Instagram DM?

Yes, if the fan started it by commenting your keyword and you deliver what you promised. Keep the DM on-topic, say what the email is for, and never send repeated or misleading messages.

Where do the emails go after the fan replies?

It depends on the tool. In theZio they land in Contacts, and Export CSV downloads every contact with handle, email, automation and date. ManyChat can pass them to email tools through integrations.

Do fans still get the freebie if they do not share an email?

In theZio, yes. It asks once more if the reply is not an email, then delivers anyway. Other tools use an email gate that holds the link until an email arrives, so test the flow before you promote the keyword.
