When ManyChat is the better pick
- Many channels in one place. ManyChat's help centre lists Instagram, Messenger, TikTok, Telegram, SMS and email channels, and it also runs flows on WhatsApp. theZio works on Instagram only.
- Deep flow builder. ManyChat's visual builder handles branching conversations, custom fields and integrations with email tools. If you want a full chatbot, it goes much further than theZio.
- Meta Business Partner. ManyChat says it is an official Meta Business Partner in the messaging category. theZio uses the official Instagram API but is not a Meta partner.
When theZio fits better
- Rupee pricing. theZio Pro is ₹499 a month, billed in rupees through Razorpay. ManyChat is billed in US dollars, so the cost moves with the exchange rate and your bank may add a foreign transaction fee.
- A free plan that fits a Reel. theZio Free covers up to 1,000 auto DMs a month. ManyChat's Free plan is reported at 25 active contacts a month for new accounts, which one busy post can use up in a day.
- Lead capture on Free. Email capture and a follow invite are on every theZio plan. ManyChat lists its Data Collection block on paid plans.
- Old comments and file delivery. theZio can answer comments from before you switched it on (last 24 hours on every plan, all old comments on Pro) and deliver an uploaded PDF or preset through a private download link.
- Three-step setup. Pick a post, set a keyword, write the DM. There is no flow canvas to learn.
How to switch without double DMs
- List your live ManyChat Instagram automations. Note each post, keyword, the DM text, any email step and the link it sends.
- Create a free theZio account and connect Instagram through Instagram Login. You need a professional (Business or Creator) account; no Facebook Page is needed.
- Turn off the ManyChat Comments trigger for one post. Two tools on the same post would send a fan two DMs, or one of them would fail.
- Recreate it in theZio with the same post, keywords, DM and link. Switch on email capture or a follow invite if your ManyChat flow had them.
- Test with a second Instagram account. Comment the keyword and check that exactly one DM arrives with the right link.
- Move the rest, then decide on ManyChat. If you move story replies to theZio, turn off the ManyChat Story Reply trigger so a fan never gets two DMs. Keep ManyChat if you still use other channels; otherwise disconnect it from Instagram settings under apps and websites.

Does theZio reply to story replies like ManyChat?
Yes. A fan replies to any of your Stories with your keyword and theZio sends the DM with your link, file or image, plus email capture or a follow invite if you switch them on. One DM per fan per Story. Keyword replies work on every plan, including Free. Answering every Story reply without a keyword, and a thank-you DM when a fan tags you in their Story, are on Pro. ManyChat's Story Reply trigger sits inside its flow builder, so it goes further if you need branching conversations.
Can I collect emails on theZio's Free plan?
Yes. Email capture inside the DM is on every theZio plan, including Free. ManyChat's Data Collection block, which it uses for emails, is listed on its paid plans.
Can I run ManyChat and theZio together?
Yes, but never on the same post. Meta allows one private reply per comment, so two tools watching one post means a double DM or a failed send. Split posts between them, or keep ManyChat for other channels and theZio for Instagram comments.
