What is a private reply?
Private replies are what make comment-to-DM automation possible. When a fan comments a keyword like LINK, the account can answer in their inbox instead of in the public thread, so the link, freebie or offer lands where the fan will actually open it.
The rules are strict. Meta allows one private reply per comment, so the first message has to carry the value on its own. And the reply has to go out within 7 days of the comment. After that, the only way to answer is a public reply under the comment. If the fan writes back, the conversation continues as a normal DM thread.
