What you can use it for
- "Comment GUIDE and I'll DM you the free guide" on a Reel
- Share a product, affiliate or booking link without "link in bio"
- Answer the same question ("price?", "details?") the same way for every fan
- Launch a course or drop with a keyword that sends the waitlist link
How to set it up
- Open a new automation. Go to Automations and tap New automation. The top bar says "Goes live when you save".
- Pick the post and the keyword. Under When someone comments, choose a post from Which post? (or All posts), then type your keyword under They comment and press Enter. Add as many keywords as you like.
- Write the public reply. Under Reply on the comment, keep or edit the replies everyone sees under the fan's comment, like "Check your DM". Leave it empty to skip.
- Write the opening DM. Under Opening DM, write your Greeting. This is the first message the fan gets.
- Choose what they get. Under Deliver the goods, write the Message, then pick What they get: A link, a Digital product or An image.
- Save. Tap Save automation. It is live straight away. Ask a friend to comment your keyword to see it work.
Tips to get more from it
- Say the keyword out loud in the Reel and put it in the caption: "Comment GUIDE". One clear word beats three.
- Use a keyword people would not type by accident. LINK works, but YOGAPDF will never fire on a random comment.
- Keep the opening DM short and warm. The fan should see the value in the first line.
- Pause an automation with the Live / Paused switch when an offer ends. It stops on the very next comment.
Good to know
- Keywords are not case-sensitive and match anywhere in the comment: LINK, link and "link please" all work.
- A fan gets one DM per post per automation, so a fan who comments twice is not spammed.
- Your own comments never trigger your automations.
- Fans on Instagram web do not see DM buttons; they can reply with text and the flow still works.

Questions
Is comment to DM automation allowed by Instagram?
Yes. theZio uses the official Instagram API with Instagram Login and Meta's private reply feature, which exists for exactly this. DMs are paced under Instagram's limits.
Do I need a Facebook Page?
No. You connect a professional Instagram account (Creator or Business) with Instagram Login. No Facebook Page is needed.
Can one automation watch all my posts?
Yes. Pick All posts under Which post? and the keyword works on every post, including ones you publish later.
