What you can use it for
- A Reel took off before you had an automation running
- You changed the freebie and want past askers to get it
- Reviving evergreen posts that still get comments
How to set it up
- Open Advanced. In your automation, open Advanced.
- Choose the scope. Under Which comments should this answer?, pick Last 24 hrs + new (every plan) or All old comments + new (Pro).
- Add a public reply. Keep a public reply in Reply on the comment, so comments older than 7 days still get answered.
- Save and watch. Save. The scan starts within a minute and a status line shows checked, matched and sent. Use Run again to repeat it.
Tips to get more from it
- Always keep a public reply on for old-comment scans, or fans past 7 days get nothing.
- Editing the wording does not start a new scan; changing the scope, post or keywords does.
Good to know
- DM for comments under 7 days old; public reply only for older ones (Instagram's rule).
- Up to 2,000 comments per post. An All posts automation scans your newest 25 posts.
- Paced so your thread never looks like spam; a big scan pauses and resumes an hour later.
- A fan is never messaged twice.

Why do old comments only get a public reply?
Instagram allows a private reply (the DM) only within 7 days of the comment. After that, a public reply is the only way to answer.
